Have Courage
Creamy chalcedony intaglio
Image of a lion rampant within an angular shield
Why we love it
Courage mon brave!
The lion rampant is the very embodiment of pluck. It speaks of facing down your fears. Because what scares you the most, is likely the thing you most desire (unless your fear is coming face-to-face with a crocodile while swimming or being hung by your arms over a pool of hungry piranhas, in which case it is justified, and you should do everything you can to avoid these situations).
Although it has to be said the lion on this intaglio looks more joyful than rampant, skipping towards its friend on a sunny day, paw raised in a pre-emptive high five.
We digress.
Now is not the time to retreat. To back off, muttering about how you’ll do it later and everything’s fine as it is. Now is the time to dig deep and take a giant leap into the unknown. To follow your heart. Quit that job. Join that dance class. Tell that person how you feel.
Nothing worth having comes easy (actually that’s not strictly true, but let’s not split hairs for the sake of a good yarn).
Coddle yourself in confidence, strap on some spunk. Be gallus, gutsy. Undaunted.
Feel that fear and do it anyway! With knobs on.
