Clovers or trefoils are legume plants known to be particularly sweet. The most famous clovers are the Irish shamrock and the lucky four leafed variant. Safe to say that clover is a positive plant. Perhaps even the most positive!

It evokes carefree young couples frolicking in fields of wild flowers together, the days of unadulterated passion, adventure and romance. And understandably therefore why this shanty was so beloved of the era.
