Hope I Don’t Intrude
A Victorian yellow paste seal to mimic citrine.
The image of a gentleman in a hat with umbrella under arm with text ‘I Hope I Don’t Intrude’.
This seal depicts Paul Pry of the eponymous theatrical farce of 1825 by Playwright John Poole. Paul Pry was an interfering busy body who conveniently leaves behind his umbrella so he has an excuse to return and eavesdrop.
Faceted back, rounded rectangle, north/south orientation.
Good antique condition but the motif lacks the crispness of the best antique pastes and a few nibbles on edges which would be concealed in setting.
18 x 15.5 x 4.5 mm.
All seals are sold as seen.
If you elect a silver setting lead times are 8-10 weeks.
Worldwide shipping is included in the price but customs duties and/or import taxes are the client’s responsibility.
