Time Passes, Friendship Remains
A Georgian bloodstone depicting a sandtimer, so detailed that the carver has even included the grains running through the timer as the seconds of our lives pass by.
The intaglio is hand carved and unique and we have set it simply as our classic pendant in recycled 14ct yellow gold.
We couldn’t resist pairing the bloodstone with a ruby Enabailer we had in stock simply because the rubies pick up and enhance the flecks of red running through the bloodstone so wonderfully but this means that the Enabailer is 18ct yellow whilst the intaglio bezel is 14ct yellow. We think it works magically and couldn’t give a figgers about the use of 2 metals but we can totes switch the bail for you if you’d like, just leave a note with your order.
Why we love it
We love this talisman for friendship and being mindful of our short times in this world. We find that time is a recurrent theme in intaglios, perhaps given the Victorians propensity to pop their clogs for fun, notwithstanding advances in medicine we still think they had it right. Time passes so very quickly, in the blink of an eye; we must cherish and protect those few deep friendships that endure all things that life’s rich pageant lobs at us.
The motto itself reads in French ‘Le tems passe l’amitie reste’ which translates as Time passes, friendship remains. We ntoe that the word ‘tems’ for time is spelt ‘temps’ these days but back then in ye olde French it was ‘tems’ hence the spelling here. Not a typo then, just old French.
