Ever Gay Pride Pendant

Amethyst potash paste intaglio pendant

Imagery of Cupid dressed as a harlequin with ‘toujours gai’ (ever gay) inscription

Very good antique condition seal with some surface wear and a couple of minor nibbles

Bordered in a double rainbow of stones including sapphires, amethysts and tourmalines, the seal is generously set in recycled 14ct yellow gold with a middy enaBailer

Why we love it

A Bauble Magpie nod to inclusivity and our firmly held conviction that love is love. Simple. Just be a decent human – everything else is packaging.

And wouldn’t you just look at Cupid, all decked out in Harlequin get up, gambolling about, happy as Larry (no we’re not sure who Larry is either). What’s not to love? Along with that gloriously upbeat motto, ‘toujours gai’ or ‘ever gay’, surely a piece to make your spirit soar. Of course ‘gay’ meant something different to them there Victorians: happy, joyous, carefree. A little different to today’s interpretation. Or perhaps not.

Who can resist this riot of colour? Wear it loud and proud. A playful celebration of freedom of sexual expression. Yours or someone else’s. Or a symbol of acceptance and gratitude for the life choices we are (mostly) at liberty to enjoy these days.

Flown away home.
