An rare antique seal depicting a bay leaf with overarching French motto ‘A L’epreuve Du Tems*’ which translates to ‘The Test Of Time’
*Tems is ye olde French for time, now, in modernity, spelled ‘temps’
Why we love it
This seal had Emma terribly giddy in her seal nerd ways.
She’s seen a bay leaf before, often solo or with the motto ‘I Only Change In Death’
And she’s seen the motto before but always with either an oak tree or an oak leaf.
But this bay leaf and motto combo she had not seen before so obviously she is disproportionately thrilled by this seal!
Bay leaves represent success or victory, wisdom, protection and prosperity, worn famously on the head of Zeus, King of the Gods.
And the French motto speaks to resilience, steadfastness, courage, endurance and all that good stuff.
This is the perfect talisman to anchor you in the knowledge that life is a marathon and not a sprint and the key to victory is steady consistency – as simple as it is magic!
