Why we love it
The imagery, there’s a lot going on and we love that and the metaphor of the lover’s knot becoming ever tighter as the birds fly further apart, mirroring the tallship putting out to the open ocean whilst crew leave their beloved ashore.
So sentimental, so determined, so resilient. Absence makes the heart grow fonder essentially…..
The overarching French motto reads “Le Plus Loin, Le Plus Serre” which translates to ‘The Further, The Tighter’. This an abbreviation of the popular adage ‘The Further The Distance, The Tighter The Knot’
