There’s something about this time of year, isn’t there? Everything starts waking up again… and whether you like it or not, you tend to feel it too. A bit of a “right, what are we doing now then?” Spring always gets talked about as a fresh start, but it’s not always that neat. Sometimes it’s messy. Sometimes it’s slow. Sometimes you’re at a halfway point between who you were and who you’re becoming. Which is exactly why I love the symbolism we see at this time of year.

This Bauble Magpie blog is full of it, renewal and rebirth, growth and vitality, hope and optimism, fertility and love. Not in a twee, chicks, pastel egg kind of way… but in the real sense that meets you wherever you actually are. Because it’s never just about the season outside your front door, it’s about the season of life that you’re in. Whether you’re starting again, figuring things out, opening yourself back up, or just quietly getting on with it… there’s a piece here that’ll make sense to you. And if something catches your eye, I’d pay attention to that. You lot are usually right.

Talismans from the trove

Fearless Intaglio Ingot Renewal & Rebirth

The phoenix always gets labelled as this big, dramatic symbol of transformation. In reality, it’s usually a bit less glamorous than that.

It’s the point where you realise you can’t keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result. So you stop. You change something. You start again.

Spring is meant to be all fresh starts and new beginnings, but most of the time it just feels like a nudge. This talisman is for when you’ve decided to actually take it.  Check out the Beware Intaglio Ingot.

Carnelian Flower: Growth & Vitality

Flowers sound predictable until you actually pay attention to them.

They don’t rush. They don’t force it. They just get on with it and, eventually, there they are.

Our Carnelian Pendant has that same feel to it. Warm, steady, a bit of momentum behind it.

This one’s for when things are moving, even if it doesn’t look like much yet. You’re further along than you think.

Forget Me Not: Love, Memory & Continuity

Not everything needs to be left behind just because you’re moving forward.

Forget-me-nots have always been tied to love and remembrance, but not in a sad way. More in a “this mattered to me, and it always will” kind of way.

Which feels about right for this time of year. Everything changing, but not everything disappearing with it. The Forget Me Not pendant is for what you’re choosing to carry forward.

Selecting your First Talisman: Emma’s Tips

If you’re not sure where to start when it comes to choosing a symbol my advice is don’t overcomplicate it. You don’t need to sit there researching meanings or trying to pick the “right” thing on paper. It rarely works like that. Most of the time, it’s much simpler, something will catch your eye and just… stick. You’ll keep coming back to it, even if you can’t fully explain why. That’s usually the one.

The only real “rule” is to pay attention to what you’re drawn to, not what you think you should choose. Whether it’s a bird, a flower, a hand, something a bit unusual if it keeps pulling you back in, there’s normally a reason for that. And if you’re stuck, that’s where I come in. Half the job is just helping you make sense of what you’re already leaning towards.

So have a look, take your time, and see what stands out.  Whether you’re looking for a custom signet ring that makes a statement from one of our antique wax seals or want to carry your talisman with you as a custom intaglio pendant, the options are near endless.

Done is better than Perfect

You don’t need to have it all figured out to choose something meaningful. There’s no perfect timing for it, no neat explanation. More often than not, it’s a case of noticing what feels right and letting that guide you. Because the pieces you choose tend to reflect where you are, whether you’ve put words to it yet or not.

With love and shiny things, always
