This one is all about how essentially we would lay ourselves down for our kiddiewinks. Sacrifice. Selflessness.

Safeguarding the future of the familial line.

This is in reference to the medieval fable of the pelican drawing blood from its own breast to feed its young, representing self-sacrifice. It pecked its own chest to nourish the babies when no other vittels were present. That’s as Fierce AF in our book.

The pelican in her piety was notably worn by Queen Elizabeth I in the portrait ‘Elizabeth I with a pelican emblem’ painted c. 1575 by Nicholas Hilliard. She viewed the UK as her child, the child she never in fact had, and for which she made much sacrifice à la pelican.

The perfect talisman for all you warrior mums out there!

We love the Pelican in her Peity so much, we made it into our Mothers Love Intaglio Ingot.
