A Georgian bloodstone intaglio with text ‘Believe Me’.
Crafted in 14ct yellow gold.
Why we love it
Whilst we know that this handcarved intaglio is well over 150 years old we can’t help noting how apposite it feels for today.
The original owner will have used this seal to press into wax on the back of their letters, asking, we imagine in a tongue in cheek kind of a way, that the reader believes the contents of the correspondence, which may have been some juicy society gossip.
Today, for us, it takes on something of a more serious message. We feel a bit lost right now. There seems to be so many individuals, particularly women, begging to be believed. When making complaints about authority figures and abuse. Oftentimes it feels ‘shocking’ that such horrors are still happening in our world. But sadly never unbelievable.
Believe brave survivors. Believe women. Believe.
Wear this pendant in solidarity for the scandal of our times. Or to honour your own personal fight to be believed.
