Why we love it
Depicted we have Cupid on bended knee.
Looks rather to us like he’s using his bow for balance, or some sort of mobility aid that’ll help him rise from his squat position, which resonates.
He’s proffering a single rose; red one would assume. His gift of le romance to his intended. How sweet.
Of course, this is an antique wax seal, so it would have been pressed into hot wax to seal an envelope containing a love letter.
