Hear My Prayer
An 1899 Victorian British six pence love token engraved ‘Hear my prayer’ around the profile of Queen Victoria.
The other side has the words ‘SIX PENCE’ crowned in a wreath.
Why we love it
A somewhat unusual love token since the ‘Hear my prayer’ engraving has been added to the side featuring Queen Victoria, almost as if the Queen herself is being beseeched.
Typically love tokens have their design added to the opposite side of the coin, leaving the relevant monarch or significant figure untouched.
