Why we love it
Hexagon shaped seals are a firm favourite at BMHQ and with our clients alike, so it’s always a delight to find one!
‘To prevent impertinent curiosity’ is a quote from Don Quixote, a Spanish novel by Miguel de Cervantes. Originally published in two parts in 1605 and 1615, the novel is considered a founding work of Western literature.
Cervantes explores the concept of “imper-tinent” through the character of Don Quixote himself, who challenges the perceived social order and norms of his time. Don Quixote’s impertinence stems from his delusional belief in chivalry and his attempts to live out those ideals, often leading to clashes with reality and those around him. The story examines how his actions, while often well-intentioned, can be seen as inappropriate or even harmful due to his misinterpretation of the world.
Here, whilst making a literary reference, the quote is also relevant to the job at hand for the seal: making the correspondence secure and preventing prying eyes from reading its contents.
