A Georgian era orange agate intaglio featuring imagery of Cupid playing a game with a falling heart and French text ‘Frappons Ce Volage’ (literally ‘let’s hit this fickle thing’)
Cupid wields an unidentified sporting implement, possibly a form of bat or racket, possibly a stick with a cup on the end, lacrosse style either way he is engaged in a game with the plummeting heart

Cupid, God of Love, playing games with a heart.
Welp. That about sums it up doesn’t it folks? Love is a game with both winners and losers.
The motto gives additional depth though and perhaps adds nuance to the imagery Let’s hit this fickle thing….. the fickle thing being love, being our hearts.
Is the suggestion then that we knock love on the head altogether? Or perhaps that we firm up the sorry state, get it under control, sho9w it who is boss?
Honestly, Emma is not sure, but as she always says, seals are subjective and the only thing that really matters is what the piece says to you, for you and about you
