Cameo Doggo
Rare Victorian golden brown paste dog
Very good antique condition with light surface wear, which does not detract from the piece
* Note this is carved in relief, which means it sticks out (like a cameo) not in (like a wax seal)
Why we love it
Emma has been hounded for particular breeds of doggo (see what we did there?!). It remains true that intaglio dogs are the working breeds of the era – gundogs and ratters. Hounds of assorted varieties.
But never to be beaten by a challenge, Emma set out to find more ‘pet’ dogs. It hasn’t been easy but she’s intrepid. And just look what she found!
We think this wee guy is a Cavalier King Charles. Don’t you just love him? Super, super cute. Look at that licky tongue!
Though not a seal, he’s so scrumptious we thought he’d be an ideal candidate for a Bauble Magpie makeover.
You’re welcome!
