Bite Me
A shield shaped bloodstone featuring imagery of a mythical creature biting itself, with a chunk of flesh and blood droplets in mid-air
In heraldry, this would be referred to as ‘vulning’, meaning wounding and bleeding. Typically used in reference to an animal, it is frequently applied to the pelican in particular
Why we love it
A super cool shield shape which is always one of our favourite finds at BMHQ
The long necked creature depicted may be a serpopard, the mythical animal from ancient Egyptian and Mesopotamian art. The creature has the body and head of a leopard and the long neck of a serpent. The word ‘serpopard’ is a modern portmanteau of serpent and leopard.
