Georgian Black Dot Paste & Silver Earrings
Antique black dot paste earrings
We have converted these from buttons with the addition of sterling silver Shepherd’s crook findings
Black dot paste jewellery refers to a small dot painted on the back of a clear glass stone, usually a dab of tar, fact fans! This serves to mimic the depth, facets and beauty of diamonds and was popular in the 17 & 18th century. It was a labour intensive process and did you know at one point paste was more expensive than actual diamonds?!
