Antique Art Nouveau Silver & Enamel Four Leaf Clover Pendant
An antique Art Nouveau pendant featuring a vibrant green enamel four leaf clover with engraved flourishes and German text ‘Gruss aus Klagenfurt’ (greetings from Klagenfurt).
Crafted in silver. The integral bail has some small stamps, possibly a makers mark of ‘JZ’ and another which we cannot discern.
Why we love it
Klagenfurt is a city in Austria on the eastern shore of Lake Worthersee, and is the capital city of the southern Austrian province of Carinthia.
Charms and postcards with the phrase ‘Gruss aus Klagenfurt’ were popular souvenirs from the late 19th and early 20ch century.
The four leaf clover is a well-known symbol of good luck dating back to at least the 17th century. The four leaves represent faith, hope, love and luck.
