Honest to God, this is one of Emma’s all time favourite motifs. She loves it so much she has a black paste version as her personal signet ring
Superficially it calls to mind how miserable most of us feel in the long dark stretches of winter, when the gloom makes us gloomy, the sun rises at 9am and sets at 3pm and it feels like winter will never pass and we must remind ourselves that the seasons will change, spring and summer will arrive again. Emma finds she wears her signet ring a lot in the winter months!
Diving a little deeper than the annual cycle of the seasons this seal is a talisman for going through hard times. When the load is heavy, when the suffering feels interminable it is essential to anchor to the notion that ‘This too shall pass”. This seal is a powerful symbol for troubled times, when it feels all hope is lost, hold fast sweet friend…..Brighter Hours Will Come
