Rare Days Of The Week Spinner Fob
An antique spinner fob seal featuring a seven sided carnelian spinner hand engraved with the seven days of the week mounted in 13ct yellow gold
Why we love it
Days of the week spinners are rare beasts indeed but this one is extra special because it has all seven days engraved on it
Back in the day, when Christianity played a more central role in daily life it was the common view that Sunday’s were to be a day of rest and a day to both observe and practice the Christian faith. For this reason, most days of the week spinners are either six sided or, more commonly seen, seven side but with a blank matrix in place of the Sabbath Day. It is truly unusual to find an antique days of the week spinner where Sunday makes an appearance and takes up its space, leaving Emma pondering about the seal’s original owner and whether they, like Emma, might have also been a heathen!
This is a unique piece from our collection of antique jewelry.
