Antique Enamel Fleur De Lis Pendant
A beautifully made deep blue enamel and old cut pastes fleur de lis with lattice detail crafted in silver
We have converted this from a brooch into a pendant adding a generous sterling silver bail
Why we love it
We love the contrast of the deep blue enamel with the crisp white stones and silver typical of the bague au firmament (ring of the heavens) style.
The fleur de lis (French meaning ‘flower of the lily’) is used in heraldry in numerous European countries, but is particularly associated with France. The lily was said to have sprung from the tears shed by Eve as she left Eden and since antiquity has been the symbol of purity.
The old cut pastes are all slightly different shapes indicating that they were cut by hand and therefore the highest quality.
