Enamelled Virgin Mary & Child

An Austro-Hungarian forint dated 1848 featuring charming enamelled imagery of the Virgin Mary and Child flanked by angels.

To the reverse is imagery of the Virgin Mary and the baby Jesus at centre surrounded by rays of light and text ‘S. Maria mater dei patrona HVNG’ (Saint Maria Mother of God, Protector of Hungary).

Condition

Good/fair antique condition with some surface wear, There is some loss of detail to the imagery on the reverse of the coin, There is some surface enamel loss on the Virgin Mary's face and hand visible under magnification which doesn't detract from her charm and beauty
