Make Good Use Of Your Time

Purple paste intaglio with bevelled back

Inscription in old French reads Profitez du tems, which literally means ‘Enjoy the time’ or less literally but more accurately, ‘Make good use of your time’

Why we love it

First things first, those of you with something of the Gallic about you are probably thinking either this intaglio has a typo, or we at BMHQ don’t know our French from our flamenco.

Au contraire, our Emma not only knows how her onions are strung, she’s even au fait with the peculiarities of the ye olde version of the language.

Turns out today’s temps is the tems of yesteryear. It’s all in the evolution of the lingo, innit?

Which brings us nicely to the pearls of wisdom engraved on this seal.

Life is short.

None of us know how short.

Don’t squander it: live the actual hell out of it.

Go on, what are you waiting for?

Flown away home.

Make it sing
