Emma just loves this seal!

Firstly it’s a rebus, which is a combo of images and words to form a secret message – such fun

But the real joy of this seal is once you have it figured out. An eye, an ear and the French phrase ‘et see taire’

Put it all together and what have you got? Well the eye is instruction to look and the ear, to listen

The French verb ‘se taire’ is reflexive, meaning an action that you do to yourself. The meaning itself is rather profane, the politest way to translate it is ‘shut up’ but in truth it’s more forceful than that, more like shut the f**k up. So the rebus corresponds to the advice ‘Look, Listen & STFU!’

FIERCE!

The advice to self is essentially to be an observer in life, to keep one’s cakehole firmly zipped and instead rely on the other senses of listening and watching. The power of observation, the power of saying less. And that works!

An alternative interpretation for this seal, they are afterall subjective and what matters is what they mean to you, is as your talisman for taking up space, being heard and having a voice. An invitation for others to take the advice you wear, to look, listen & STFU. An Emma loves that!
