A hand carved and unique Georgian era carnelian intaglio depicting a mother bird flying away, leaving her baby bird in its nest with overarching French motto ‘Je Reviendrai’ which translates to ‘I Will Return’
Why we love it
Was there ever a more emotionally loaded image than of a mummy bird on wing, leaving her chick warbling pitifully in the nest?
Off to fetch vittels in the form of worm or grub but singing out ‘I Will Return’ as she goes? Possibly not
Reminds Emma of when it’s a McDonald,s chicken nugget drive thru for dinner frankly, slightly less romantic but there your have it
