I Only Change In Death
A hand carved carnelian intaglio featuring imagery of the leafy branch of the bay tree complete with berries with French text ‘Je ne change qu’en mourant’ (I only change in death).
In floriography terms the bay is symbolic of many things including protection, wisdom, truth, courage, achievement and of course victory (a la bay laurel wreath).
Why we love it
Tiny but mighty, the detailed carving is beautiful.
Plus it’s the ever popular scallop shape!
