Flight(y)
Small scallop edge carnelian intaglio
Imagery of a butterfly in flight
French text reads volage (flight)
Why we love it
A cheeky wee wink of an intaglio and flight of Francophilian fancy. For all you pun lovers it’s a play on words from those gallus Gauls.
Allow us to explain.
The French word volage means flight – hence the butterfly.
But être volage means to be fickle. Or flighty. Words that often carry negative connotations.
But not with our Gallic friends across the Channel.
Mais non!
In France someone who loves to flit is considered interesting. Curious. An enthusiast with an appetite for all aspects of life. And we are so down with that.
Wear this to celebrate your joy at being alive. Your insatiabilité.
Embrace your sense of wonder. Relish in your endlessly inquisitive nature.
Vive la France!
