Crafted in 10ct yellow gold and onyx.

Why we love it

A statement piece with great finger coverage, but low profile for practicality.

The jewellery manufacturing company Ostby and Barton Co. was founded in 1879 when Engelhart Cornelius Ostby and Nathan B. Barton formed their business partnership. Ostby & Barton jewellery was known for being of high quality and the company soon became known as “the largest ring manufacturers in the world”.

Ostby and his daughter Helene frequently travelled to Europe to study European jewellery design and production. After 1906, all of Ostby’s trips to Europe included his daughter, however their final trip in 1912 ended in tragedy with the sinking of the Titanic and the loss of Engelhart Ostby’s life, one of 1500 souls to perish in that fateful event.

Helene was on board with him. She survived after being forced onto a lifeboat while her father returned to their first-class cabin to retrieve a coat.

Helene, along with her brother and his daughter, inherited Ostby & Barton. She joined in operating the company once she recovered from the heartbreak of losing her father. The company continued to manufacture jewellery through the 1950s.
